Dining Out

Breakfast – Colazione
The typical Italian breakfast is espresso and a sweat pastry, like a croissant. Italians don’t typically get their espresso or coffee to go, but some bars do have to-go cups. You can ask for “caffè da portare via.”
Lunch – Pranzo
Lunch is often the biggest meal of the day for Italians. Typically they start lunch around 1:30pm or 2pm.
Happy Hour – Aperitivo
Aperitivo is usually between 7pm and 8pm, and consists of drinks (wine or aperol) and snacks.Dinner – Cena
Dinner starts around 8pm or 8:30pm typically. Like most things, Italians like to take their time and enjoy their meals and company.
