  • Ideal for: Nature, hiking, and history lovers

A 1.4 km trail through the Olmo district, known as “the Ancient City” because it extends along the oldest side of Orvieto and is the site of the first urban settlement on the cliff. Along this route, at times very scenic and evocative, are Orvieto’s oldest churches (particularly the Church of San Giovenale with its beautiful frescoes), the Pozzo della Cava, a multi-level underground site where, among other things, you can admire remains of Orvieto ceramics, the ancient Porta Maggiore, and finally, near Porta Vivaria, the path that allows you to walk to the Etruscan Necropolis of the Crocifisso del Tufo.
