The route through the Serancia district can be described as a blend of “History and Legend,” the main motifs associated with this part of the city. History is well represented, above all, by the important Piazza della Repubblica with the Palazzo Comunale and the Church of Sant’Andrea, a square that has always been important to Orvieto since the Etruscan era, where it is believed the city’s forum was located. The “legendary” component of the route can be found in Via Loggia dei Mercanti, where the remains of an ancient headquarters of the Knights Templar are located, and the nearby Torre Polidori, associated with an ancient legend.
The stretch from the Church of San Giovanni along the perimeter road Ripa Medici is very scenic.
