The tombs, (over 200), are made of tuff blocks, and are in “chamber” type and are generally arranged along a network of sepulchral streets that form an orthogonal system. The tombs that can currently be visited are mostly destined to individual families. Each tomb was closed with a slab of tuff then buffered by blocks of the same material.<\/p>\n

It is located just below the tufa cliff and emerges from the ground as several Etruscan tombs with the characteristic rectangular shape.\u00a0Each grave has the Etruscan family name that can still be seen. All objects and vessels found in this necropolis and those of Cannicella<\/b> are displayed in the museums of Orvieto.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Necropolis is just out of the tufa rock, you can reach it by car parking in a lot just a few steps from the entrance or by walk from Orvieto center exiting Porta Vivaria, near Piazza Pecorelli and Piazza del Popolo.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]See also other Etruscan period and archaeological attractions in Orvieto<\/p>\n
