Among the various hypotheses on the reason for the name of this neighborhood, the most likely is the one that tells of the presence in the area of \u200b\u200ba large tree, a centuries-old elm that represented a point of reference and meeting place for the inhabitants.<\/em>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern”][vc_column][vc_column_text]A quarter that includes a large part of the “Ancient City<\/strong>” as it develops on the north-west side on an area that is considered the first to highlight an urban settlement of the cliff and still today this area constitutes the heart of the medieval quarter of Orvieto with the ancient and steep Via della Cava where the Pozzo della Cava<\/strong><\/a> is located, an original underground site arranged on several levels where, among other things, you can also admire finds and objects in Orvieto ceramics. They also find interesting churches including San Giovenale<\/strong>, the oldest in the city, (with inside, beautiful frescoes from the 1400s), the ancient Porta Maggiore and finally, at Porta Vivaria, a panoramic path that allows you to walk to the archaeological site of the Etruscan necropolis of Crocifisso del Tufo<\/a>.<\/p>\n
